Whale save a drowning woman

There was a competition Polar Land in Harbin, north east China where the competitors had to sink to the bottom of an aquarium's 20ft arctic pool and stay there for as long as possible amid the beluga whales.

One of competitors, Yang Yun suffer leg cramps and could make it to the surface in time. That was when one of the beluga whales notice her distress and pull her up to the surface.

That saved her life. Amazing isn't it? A heart warming piece of news to end the working week.

Protect your privacy in Facebook

I was on my facebook and was warned by a friend of mine that Facebook is allowing your images to promote third party products. Well I don't really like that idea. Even thought the ads are for my friends, I just do not want me to be misrepresented and worst use for FREE advertising.

This is the explaination by facebook.
Facebook occasionally pairs advertisements with relevant social actions from a user's friends to create Facebook Ads. Facebook Ads make advertisements more interesting and more tailored to you and your friends. These respect all privacy rules. You may opt out of appearing in your friends' Facebook Ads below.

Here's how to say NO to such FREE advertising.

1. Click on SETTINGS up at the top where you see the Log out link and select the Privacy Settings.

2.Select NEWSFEEDS and WALL.

3. Select the tab that reads FACEBOOK ADS.

4. There is a drop down box, select NO ONE and SAVE your changes.

I hope you find this useful.

Longest daylight darkness in 21st century

Today is a special day because of this.

Similar to Heroes, today there was a total solar eclipse. It was the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century. This time round, Asia (such as China and parts of India) got to witness this event first hand.

I didn't witness it first hand as it was raining cats and dogs in Singapore and it happened during my working hours. :(

Original Michael Jackson Dangerous Cassette

This is it! This is the curtain call for my Michael Jackson cassette collection. This is the last cassette I got for myself. It's bad, it's Dangerous! Bwoa!

With all my heart, this is the best looking design of MJ of all times in my opinion. The dark and circles looking arts suited it well.

This is the only album that MJ did not show his whole face. Only his dramatic looking eyes.

So what are the goodies in this cassette? Once again it is the cover fold from the cassette with the wonderful grand looking clip arts with circles theme.

Here is MJ'swriting, The Dance

And here is a MJ thank you speech found inside. Click on the picture to read from the full resolution.

So that is all for my personal Michael Jackson Cassette collections. I recall getting this cassette with a A2 size Dangerous sticker poster during my purchase. Somehow I misplaced it. :(

I was fortunate to attend his Dangerous Tour in Singapore back in 1993. It was a dream came true.

No eating and drinking on SMRT or Fine

I read today on mypaper that SMRT is finally taking action against those who challenge the rules and regulation of the commuters. One major regulation is "No food or Drink are allow in trains and stations". It has been a common sight to see such uncivil commuters both young and old challenging that rule. This problem has become so common that it appear as a constant topic on Stomp and topic to talk about on Singapore National TV.

A week ago, an article was published on The Straits Times regarding "More eating on MRT". In it quoted there was an increase in offenders compare to last year. It is a thriving problem as many offenders action was not caught.

Regardless the constant warning on audio being played in the stations and trains and the visible signage almost everywhere in the vicinity, some individual still challenge the rules and chose to remain ignorance. Finally SMRT are enforcing the rules they have set.

Personally, I welcome the enforcement by SMRT before situation goes out of hand. Generally the public are not as civil minded and self-disciple compared to the past. Is it because of the growth in population that cause the reduction of the standard of civil mindedness? If the education standard had increase, why would there be a reduction in conduct of one self? The equation doesn't balance here. Maybe the conduct of oneself is a choice that never really linked to education level.

It is sad that enforcement had to be done but it is for the comfort and convenience for other passengers. It is after all, a public transport. Or is it not?

here's what other bloggers had to say.
It is not about eating in MRT trains but ....

Singa the Lion message regarding H1N1

Meet a Singapore adorable mascot that is the epitome of kindness, Singa the Lion. Excuse the mask there, it is another message he is trying to bring across.

Introduce in the early 1980s, Singa's job was to remind Singaporean to be courteous with the help of National Courtesy Campaign. The Singa mascot gives away hugs and smile to all but due to recent H1N1 attacks, Singa now take on another task to remind fellow Singaporean to have some social responsible. A closer look at Singa's T-shirt and you will get the point.

So if you are sick, please see a doctor and stay home with your M.C. Do not go to office when you are sick. Forget about the fear of what your boss may think about you having a M.C. Original Michael Jackson Bad Cassette

In 1988, I got this cassette after catching the MTV preview on local TV channel. This cassette was the time when Michael Jackson is still at Epic.

You can see the wear and tear condition in the picture below. What do you expect from a 20 years old cassette?

That's not all, it comes with many bonus goodies inside.

At the back of the cassette, you can see the clear song list.

If you may notice, "Leave me Alone" was not inside for the cassette version. That song came out after the Moonwalker movie and found in the later CDs.

The cassette still look rather good condition today.

Here are the bonus material I was talking about.

Lots of MJ photos in the folds.

The famous MJ "moonwalk" logo introduce the first time inside the cover sheet. I love this logo.

That's not all. There was a separated song sheet inside.

It is double sided.

How retro is that?

Sony Secret of PSP + Phone?

What if Sony going to come out a PSP on a Mobile Phone? When I got my old Sony Ericsson mobile phone K800, I was told that it is a mobile phone in a Digital Camera and not a Digital camera in a Mobile phone. Looking at the Sony direction of their latest PSP Go! game console and their knowledge of Mobile Phone (Sony Ericsson), it is not too difficult to imagine the possibility.

Reuters reported that the Nikkei business daily in Japan said Sony planned to start getting its team together on the project as soon as next month. Below is the concept design draft.

For a gamer like me, I am excited. Sony is going to the right direction. A ideal device would serve as a mobile phone, Music player, video player, digital camera, web browsing, GPS and gaming. what more can we ask for in one device?

Are you excited too?

Sony Limited Edition Michael Jackson's Thriller 2GB USB Flash Drive

Often enough we wanted to buy a empty but big capacity thumb drive. How about having a music album when you buy a Thumb drive?

Sony did that in 2007 in a 2GB thumb drive during the 25th anniversary of Thriller by Michael Jackson. Thriller, the best selling album of all times. This flash drive is pre-loaded with nine original songs of that album plus, eight bonus tracks and video clips.

Seriously you are paying not for a thumb drive but an album as well. How cool is that? Plus it is a Limited Edition. I wonder will they be doing "Bad", "Dangerous" and "HIStory" since now MJ has left us...

By the way, recently there are so much MJ topics that some forum actually closed and discourage members for opening MJ thread... I guess that can put into another Guinness hall of fame?
