TIME Magazine Michael Jackson Commemorative Issue

I thought I have missed it out altogether but I happen to see this once again at a local news stand. Without hesitation, I made the purchase.

One thing I really like is the photographs of MJ inside in different eras of his time. Starting from Jackson 5.

Here's the teenage MJ in a studio with Steven wonder. Man they are really young then.

Young Michael already a sensation on stage. Just look at the crowd.

The prime of Michael in 1993 Dangerous tour. If I'm not wrong, he should be singing "Give it to me" when the shot was taken.

Not forgetting the content of writing was good too. Still yet to finish reading the magazine. Going to enjoy it slowly.

At the back of the magazine, there was this statement which I agree on.

It was from Pepsi, a drink that Michael used to advertise.

Totally worth every penny I paid for. A MJ Collector's item!

In cases you do not know, if MJ is alive today, he should be celebrating his 51 years old birthday. I truly hope his soul is in a better place now. Happy birthday MJ and may your body be lay to rest soon.

Men appreciate understanding is to love

I read this interesting post on Jacelyn's regarding
Views on Men, Women and Relationships.

Being a Men, I find some pointed listed are quite true in certain aspect.

  • To know whether a man really loves you, look at his actions and ignore his words!
  • A man always has a purpose for doing what he’s doing.
  • Guys always enjoy a challenge, so ensure that you play hard to get, make him work for you. However, guys doesn’t enjoy a woman playing so hard to get to the extent where she climbs over his head, so play your cards right.
  • When a man truly loves a woman, all other girls or members of the female species will fade into oblivion. He won’t be bothered with all the other women, no matter how gorgeous or sexy or pretty they are. His attention is on you and you only.
  • He will go to great lengths to make you happy because he himself will be very happy if he knows that he can satisfy and please his woman, that is, if he really loves the woman.
  • A man will do anything, and I mean anything, to get what he wants. He’ll do whatever it takes to make you stay, even if it means lying. Why? He loves himself more than he loves you!
  • A man who truly loves you will always put your best interests at heart.
  • A man who truly loves you will always make you his first priority even if it means he has to sacrifice.
  • Men need our understanding more than they need our love. In fact, when you understand men, they will love you for it. To men, understanding them is more important than loving them.
  • Men commit to women who make them feel good about themselves.
  • A real man will take responsibility for his actions and follow through on his promises.
  • Many men are simply hindered by their egos.
  • When he takes the initiative to work for you, reward him appropriately be it in the form of a simple kiss, hug or whatever you can think of. DO NOT treat him extra nice when he didn’t even deserve it, because he’ll start taking you for granted.
  • Men can sense when you are trying too hard. Because you put him on a higher-status than you, he sees you as lower-status and it’s unlikely he will remain attracted to a woman who’s perceived to be of a lower status than him.
  • Men can be very focused on their goals. That’s why they can usually handle only one thing at a time whereas women find it easier to multi-task.
  • Men care more about the “consequences” or “effects” of their actions, thus the “I’m just looking at women, I’m not sleeping with them, no harm done, what’s the big deal” attitude.
  • For most men, “neediness” and “insecurity” are the enemies of attraction and can literally kill a relationship. That’s why you hear men saying they need “space”. Men want to distance themselves from you because they no longer feel attracted to you.
  • Men just don’t flow in the emotional realm the same way as women do.
  • Faithfulness is always a struggle for men, and must be learned. Some men are, frankly, not man enough to WIN that struggle.
  • Men fall in love through “imagination”.
  • One of the reasons why men find it difficult to commit and get married to one woman for life is that he’s afraid that the woman will change after marriage.
  • Men want to feel wanted, respected and admired by their women.
Man do appreciate Understanding given to them.

For view on woman and relationship, head over to to read more because I am not a sexist. LOL

The importance of building a Firm Foundation

I received these photos from an email and at that moment I saw this photo, I thought it has to do with Taiwan disaster that happen 8 August 2009.

When I reached the second photo, I realized it was not related to the that event. The whole building fallen flat on the ground but the building was very much intact. Take a look at the foundation! Was it caused by an earthquake?

It seems that the only building fallen to the ground while the others were standing fine (for now).

* Click for bigger picture.

It was a good thing that the building was empty (so it seems from the photo as the building is new and under construction). I couldn't imagine if it was occupied. That could cost the lost of lot of lives!

* Click for bigger picture.

Once again it proved the theory for the need of a good foundation. Regardless the firmness of the building to each floor, if the foundation was not laid properly, the whole building will collapsed. There is no short cuts and woe to those made such grave mistake whether on purpose or not! This should not be an honest mistake.

Five Facebook Users sueing Facebook

Just heard the news that five facebook users is suing Facebook for being a data-mining operation and failed to deliver on promises to give users strict control of data uploaded to profile pages.

Here are the summary of the cases:

One female Facebook user who joined in the in an early phase when membership was limited to the college crowd felt betrayed by evolving into an open social network that now claims more than 250 million members worldwide.

Other plaintiffs named in the suit are identified as a photographer and an actress who contend Facebook is wrongly sharing pictures posted on their profile pages.

The remaining plaintiffs are young boys that the suit charges should not have been permitted by Facebook to join or post images or comments without any viable tool to confirm ages of those creating accounts. One 11-year-old boy who joined Facebook posted that he had swine flu and uploaded pictures or video of "partially-clothed" children swimming, according to the lawsuit.

Read the complete news here . I foresee more of these in the days to come.

Indeed facebook can do more to protect the interest of the member. Not too long ago, facebook allow third party developers to use member profile photograph to advertise to the member's friend for the third party's products. To prevent that, members have to setting their setting personally to pirvate. Here's the steps to protect third parties using your photograph to sell their products to your contacts.

Cases of facebook may cost you your job

It's no joking matter. Recalling some pasts articles of mine(Social network issues and Network games archievement), it all point back to the balance between your private and working life.

Here are some living cases that someone lost their job because of what they wrote and do in facebook out of carelessness.

Case 1: A worker call sick leave but her facebook status stated otherwise.

Case 2: One person went for a job application permanent positions and he received feedback after the interview that the employer to be read his facebook and come to know he was applying for uni and planning to travel in April. They turned him down for consideration unless he gave up his holiday next week. The employer was in her friend list thus able to read everything about her.

Finally this a classic and foolish case...

So be careful of what you put online. Nothing is really private especial in Social network site.

Gladlycast: Tweet from your mobile in Singapore with local SMS charges

In order to tweet on the move, I have 3 choices:
1. Surf on my mobile device in a public wifi zone
2. Sign up for a local telco mobile internet plan
3. Or I can send an SMS to an overseas number that offers such services (charges from local telco as a oversea smses)

How I wish there were a local service provider that charges local charges for SMSes instead of overseas charges. Then, I would be able to tweet via SMS whenever and wherever I want in Singapore. prayer was answered.

Through Twitter, I got to know Gladlycast, a free local SMS service linked to twitter. Did I mention that service is FREE?

How does it work?
You send a sms to a local number and it would recognize the subscriber's mobile number and matches that SMS to a specific twitter account.

How to sign up?
Here are the simple steps to activate the services at to begin, click on the "Sign in with twitter".

1. You will be redirected to Twitter to log in to your twitter account. After logging in, it asks for your permission to allow Gladlycast to associate your account with your mobile phone number.

2. Once accepted, a random custom message will be display and you will be asked to send that message via SMS to the given local mobile number for verification. Once the sms is being sent, it's time to confirm your number in the next step.

3. Your mobile number which you use to send the SMS will be displayed. Confirm if that was the number. Now your mobile number is tied to the twitter account.

4. You may associate multiple mobile numbers with your twitter account. If you do not want it, you are done.

5. It's time to send an SMS from the mobile phone and it will appear in your twitter account.

What if you have multiple twitter account?
Gladlycast can still accept your tweet to display in ALL your twitter accounts and also excluding a specific tweet from a specific twitter account only.

The only down side of this services is that it is a ONE way traffic. You send your tweet to them but they will not sent any tweet from who you follow in your twitter account to you. If it does, you will maybe bombarded by SMS spam all day depending on who and the number of those you are following.

I personally recommend this service for those in Singapore. Why send and pay for overseas SMSes for a tweet on the move right? Sign up for free at Gladlycast and join me on twitter and let's tweet on the move!

Credit Card Scam at Hotel

I read a forwarded mail regarding credit card scam that could be a possibility while checking in a hotel. I felt it is good to share it with my readers who travel often. The scenario maybe fictional but the content may be real.

You arrive at your hotel and check in at the front desk. When checking in, you give the front desk your credit card (for all the charges for your room). You get to your room and settle in. Someone calls the front desk and asked for (example) Room 620 (which happens to be your room).

Your phone rings in your room. You answer and the person on the other end says the following, ' This is the front desk. When checking in, we came across a problem with your charge card information. Please re-read me your credit card number and verify the last 3 digits numbers at the reverse side of your charge card. '

Not thinking anything you might give this person your information, since the call seems to come from the front desk. But actually, it is a scam of someone calling from outside the hotel/front desk. They ask for a random room number. Then, ask you for credit card information and address information. Sounding so professional that you do think you are talking to the front desk.

If you ever encounter this problem on your vacation, tell the caller that you will be down at the front desk to clear up any problems. Then, go to the front desk and ask if there was a problem. If there was none, inform the manager of the hotel that someone called to scam you of your credit card information acting like a front desk employee.

It is always good to be vigilant especially when you are oversea.

Importance of Stay Home Mother

If you asked me what I remember most of my childhood, my answer would be the time when I was at home accompany by my mother on a weekday afternoon. I always felt secure and at peace at the comfort of my home with someone as dear as a mother.

Due to higher standard of living, both parents often chose to go for a pay job while their children are place in the hands of the baby sitter, maid or their grandparents. As the result of that, the child often grew closer to the caretaker than their own parents. What concern more is the value and habits they often would pick up from their care takers without the knowledge of their parents.

As vital as family is to the society, so is the role of a stay home mother. Often enough stay home mother are closer to their children and their children are more open to them. The balance of the child and family are stable too. A stay home mother would have more time to educate and instill their family values to the child during meals and playtime. Today, being a Stay home mother does not mean no financial income. Many Stay home mother taken up some part time job and some starting their home business.

As good as the benefits sound, being a Stay home mother can be stressful. She has to be alert most of the time and rush through daily routine without off days and there are no official normal working hours. The finances may be limited in some aspect as they do not get benefits from day job workers. Staying home too much can lose touch with the current society as stay home mothers would pretty much occupy with the affairs of the child. In short, they need more emotional support from their spouse and family. However, a stay home mothers never regretted their choices.

Good things about the role of being a stay home mother is non-permanent. As the child grows up, she can rejoined the working group once again giving the child chances to practice their independence. By then, their child should be well equip emotionally and mentally for what he/she can handle.

Sometime I felt stay home mothers were not given enough credits for their scarifies for their noble and responsible decision. I am blessed and forever grateful that my mother was a stay home mother who nurture me in body, mind and soul.

Do you agree Stay home mother is important to the society structure?
