YouTube New Monetization policy, Money hard to Earn

Today YouTube have officially notify some of the YouTube channel creator about the new eligibility requirements.

An email would be sent to YouTube channel owners if they failed to meet the requirement so far. So what is the new requirement for monetization?

The new threshold of 4,000 hours of watchtime within the past 12 months and having at least 1,000 subscribers or more.

The rules will kick in on February 20, 2018.

If you still did not meet that will be terminated from the YouTube Partner Program losing all access to all monetization tools and features associated with the YouTube Partner Program.

If somewhere down the line the new threshold is met, it will then to be reviewed to make sure it adheres to our policies and guidelines, and if so, monetization will be re-enabled.

The Ideal Math
Taken to the account what was communicated, I did a calculation of the following in the ideal situation.

4000 hours x 60 = 240000 mins
240000 mins / 1000 subscribers = 240 mins for each subscribers for 12 months
240 min / 60 = 4 Hours
4 hours / 12 months = 0.33 hours viewing per month per subscriber
0.33 hr x 60 min = 19.8 mins round up 20 mins per video

Above the minimum but how do you get subscribers that is 1000?

It is not confirm the qualification apply on the monthly basis or not. So if one month your view is lower, the total of 12 months may drop less than 4000 hours view.

Quality and Timeless Content
It is a challenge to product quality content consistently as regular view as most YouTube content is more like news and sort. Over time the content may not be view as much.

How much can YouTuber earn now
The main question we need to ask is if we meet the requirement, how much will you earn per month for 4000 hours of viewing per month? Maybe it would just be a few dollars and it is really worth it.

Do what you Like now
Since the bar is set high now, the question current YouTuber will ask will they play the game, Call quit or do what you like.

If you are doing for interest, then you may no longer need to be concern for copyrights content as previously monetization have some strict requirements. It is a open field to produce whatever you like but how to get the viewers, you have to do most of the work. Is that worth it then?

How do you feel about the new YouTube monetization requirement?
